Trend Alert: Stripes!

Next year´s summer comes multidirectional. Striped clothes will be used soon over all types of garments and accessories. Invading shirts and coats with new versions of classic textiles, fabrics will appear multicolored and streetstyle influence is already pushing in this direction. The Research and Textile Development Center at INTI showed an analysis of summer 2018 runways in order to understand which trends and items will be arriving at Argentina next summer. Stripes will play a very dynamic role and they come everywhere.

Neither colors nor fabrics are an impediment to adopting this trend that comes and goes according to the years, but runways showed that all mixes and possibilities are available: on knit dresses, in the most vibrant and colorful versions, on Black and white and –for the less brave ones or classic ones- on cotton shirts in blue and white or on tailored pinstriped suits.

Stripes seem to be a statement, so use them in great proportions, on pants and oversize trench, in black and white, horizontal or vertically, matching stripes in the same outfit and also, in multiple colors and irregular lines. Designers such as Dries Van Noten, Proenza Schouler and Ann Demeulemeester showed them last summer, so why not also encourage yourself to combine hem in several pieces, in different colours, prints and sizes?

For the most diplomatic, there are always austere options in color and proportions and brands such as Chanel, Rochas, Acne and Chloé, in monochromatic outfits and in nude, beige, soft golden and celestial tones.
