0

Coco et Capel:

If you like accessories, this vintage store is for you. It has a glass cabinet that is the dream of every woman. You can find earrings, bracelets, and necklaces from different decades and of European brands such as Chanel, Hermes and Versace. There is also a great variety of handbags in perfect condition and unique relics that make this vintage store one of the best of Buenos Aires. Prices? They vary depending on the origin of the brand. National ones are cheaper than foreign ones. Besides, some products are sold in dollars and some others in Argentine pesos.

Para Elisa:

If you are invited to a party or to an important gala, I advise you to visit Para Elisa. Four years ago, this antique clothes boutique started selling original accessories and relics with high quality handmade embroideries that evoke the glam of film and rock and roll stars from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Besides, you can find unique and sophisticated blouses, dresses, jackets, and sweaters at a good price. But the best thing about the place is that everything is specially selected and brought to the country from the United States by its owner, Elisa Okner, who is passionate about vintage clothes and objects and who carefully takes care of clients and everything at the store.

Juan Pérez:

It is a classic of Buenos Aires and one of the best-known vintage stores of the city. Here you can find both national and foreign brands. Prices depend on the quality and the condition of the clothes and the accessories, but there are great opportunities. Mind you: you’ll need some time to go round the place because there are a lot of shoes, accessories, handbags and clothes. And if you want, you can also visit another Juan Perez store that is nearby and that is kind of VIP room where you will find the best selections and the most exclusive things of the place. If you love vintage stores, this is a must see.

Hola Magazine celebrated its five years in Argentina

0

It’s been five years since the Spanish magazine Hola arrived in the country and to celebrate it organized a glamorous party at the Four Seasons Mansion.

The dress code was royal blue. The décor, by Javier Iturrioz, also respected the code and so the banquet was a true blue night.

María Vázquez, Valeria Mazza, Mirtha Legrand, Cintia Verónica Lozano, Pampita, Esmeralda Mitre, Dolores Barreiro, and Guillermina Valdes were some of the celebs that attended the gala.

Clé by Cartier arrived in BA

0

Clé, Cartier’s newest timepiece, has arrived in Buenos Aires. One of the world’s most renowned jewelry brands launched a new line of watches for women and men inspired by a perfect circle.

The unique detail of this new design is that the crown resembles a key and it is adorned with a sapphire that makes it special and remains flush with the metal surrounding it.

The venue chosen for the launch was the Faena Art Center, which was decorated with red roses and the colors that characterize the firm, and where guests could try on the watches that were displayed.

The women’s line includes three models, pink gold, croco, and diamonds, and the men’s line has two designs: white gold, and leather.

The watch is a jewel that keeps being trendy throughout time. Even more, it is an accessory that shows our inner self. Cartier has always understood watch-lovers; that’s why over the last decades many celebrities have been loyal to the brand. The princess of Monaco Grace Kelly, for instance, as is shown in the movie Grace of Monaco, featuring Nicole Kidman, always wore Cartier jewels.

Clé is Cartier’s newest symbol and it demonstrates once again that the company is still at the vanguard with products that are the perfect fusion of sensuality, sophistication and elegance.

Thailand: an enchanted trip

Over the last few years, Southeast Asia has become the destination chosen by thousands of tourists from all over the world. That’s why in Le Banana we will tell you some must-dos that can’t be out of your checklist when embarking on this unique experience that goes beyond the boundaries of real world.

The best thing about the Asian country is that it offers varied options for people from all walks of life. If you love the beach, then you can just go to the idyllic Thai islands. But if you like the mountain and you are interested in discovering different cultures, you can also visit Chiang Mai province and explore Thai costumes and their eccentricities, such as the giraffe women.

If you travel from South America, there are many airlines that go to Bangkok, capital city of Thailand. Emirates, Qatar and Turkish are the ones that offer shorter and direct flights. Bangkok has a rich culture. Two of the most fascinating places are Wat Phra Kaew, the most important Buddhist temple of Thailand, and the Grand Palace, which are next to each other, inside the historic center of Bangkok. Visiting the floating flower market, where you’ll find thousands of different flower types, is another must do. And if you want to feel the spirit of the city you can take a long tail boat and go around the exotic Thai canals.

Among Thai islands, one of the most desired destinations is Koh Phi Phi Lee, a tiny island that, together with Koh Phi Phi Don, Mosquito Island and Bamboo Island, make up the Phi Phi island chain. Apart from enjoying its paradisiacal beaches, you can do water activities, discover its food, such as the Pad Thai, one of the most characteristic dishes of the place, and be pleased with Thai massages, with or without happy ending.

From Koh Phi Phi Lee, there are two excursions that you must do: the visit to Maya Bay, another breath-taking beach, whose name perhaps rings a bell because the film The Beach, starring Leonardo Di Caprio, was shot there; and Bamboo Island, a virgin island in the middle of nowhere, a true paradise.

The other island that you can’t miss is Koh Lanta. The charm of this place is that the beaches are huge, the water is calm and you can relish floating on the sea or walking around the large white beaches. Also, you must try an elephant trekking, which is really fun and typical of Thailand.

Koh Samui, in the South of the Thailand Golf, is another island that must be in your wish list of the Asian country. It is a place to enjoy nature or relax using the amenities offered by the hotels. Without any doubt, one the best attractions of the place are the restaurants and pubs that prepare tables for two in the middle of the sea or at the seaside. How? They place a raft on the sea, they hold it with ropes and wood, and decorate it with white cloths and candles: perfect for a romantic night.

And 60 kilometers away from Ko Samui you will find Koh Tao, also called Turtle Island, which is one of the best places to do scuba diving thanks to the diversity and the quality of its seafloor.

But not everything is chill out in Thailand; you can also be part of great parties there. There are hundreds, but the Full Moon Party, in Koh Phangan, that takes place every full moon night, is one of the most amazing and is already a classic in Thailand.

Three Summer Beauty Must Haves

0

Amalia, by Fueguia 1833. I never leave my house without applying perfume on my skin, and this is the one I’ve chosen for this summer. With jasmine notes, a scent that reminds me of the country’s freshness, and a sophisticated and personal touch, it is my favorite fragrance for summertime. I also love this perfume line because it is exotic and it specializes in creating aromas that evoke Argentinean animals and plants.

ISDIN Fusion Fluid 50 is the best sunscreen lotion for summer. It is the perfect skincare product because it moisturizes your skin and at the same time it protects you from UV rays and it gives your skin a natural glow. Besides, its lightweight texture gives you the chance of using it the whole year without feeling that your skin is awfully sticky.

Brume De la Mer is a product to keep always handy both in your handbag and in your beach bag. If you want a moisturized skin but hot weather doesn’t allow you to use creams, then this is for you. You can use it many times a day and it is fantastic to spray on your face after making yourself up because it gives your skin a fabulous porcelain effect.

FASCINATORS IN THE LIMELIGHT

0

The Argentine Racecourse Palermo was the perfect setting for the fifth edition of the Prix Baron B. Inspired by the European turf and derbies such as the Prix de Diane, which takes place in France, or the Royal Ascot, the typical British horse race, this event has already become a classic porteño gala for Argentine celebs.

As always, the dress code required women to wear fascinators, that mix of hat and headdress that dates back to the 30s but which after William and Kate Wedding has turned into the trendy piece of clothing that is a must for any cocktail party or formal dinner.

Female guests dazzled with refined dresses, and impressive, original fascinators. Romina Lanaro, in her typical ethereal and chic style, chose a Marcelo Giacobbe’s dress and a fascinator created by Laura Noetinger; Pampita donned a Giacobbe’s gown with transparencies and hummingbird shapes, but she decided not to wear a fascinator because the dress was already too strong; Florencia Torrente charmed everyone with a red minimalist dress designed by Evangelina Bomparola; and the Spanish fashion icon María de León Castillejo opted for a patterned dress by the Spanish designer Jorge Vázquez and a Mimoki’s fascinator.

I chose a feathery fascinator designed by Inés de Ezcurra and I decided to wear a black long dress by Santiago Artemis. As regards make up, I preferred to highlight the eyes in dark green tones, which was the feathers’ color, and I left the skin bright and translucent.

The event, in aid of the Hospital de Clínicas foundation, was hosted by Valeria Massa, beaming in a pink Ménage Á Trois and with a fascinator designed by Laura Noetinger, and Iván de Pineda, who, as all the men, observed the rule of wearing a black tie.

The Prix brought together more than 700 people and gathered models, actresses, actors, and other members of our showbiz, who after enjoying the horse races, gambling and clapping the winners, had fun in a cool party to the music of the hot Djs Paula Demaria and Martín Bernardo till after midnight.

But fascinators played the leading role during the party. I love them because they are really attractive and they add sophistication to our outfits. It is a growing trend that not only belongs to the royalty but also to all women who dare to give to their looks a different touch.

WOOL REMAKE

0

Wool has always been a noble material that makes us think of our grandmas. Who didn’t have, as a child, a precious piece of clothing knitted by a loved one?

Camelot, the brand created by the fashion icon Cintia Garrido, makes the most of this culture to help us texturize and complement our looks with wool of the highest quality, using materials such as pure merino wool, Patagonian baby alpaca, handcrafted angora, and pima cotton.

The “no season” concept allows us to play with this kind of materials both in winter and in summer. Nowadays, wool is a “summer must” that includes not only ponchos, which are the hit of the season, but also bikinis, shorts, ruanas, dresses, crop tops and cardigans.

“I became interested in knitting in a natural way because I grew up in a family where wool was always present”, says Cintia. And she adds that knitting is something that she has always done with passion, since she started, knitting for friends and relatives, till she decided to create Camelot.

Each piece of clothing of the brand is carefully thought and developed manually, using sustainable materials, classic knitting stitches such as jersey stitch, purl stitch, and crochet, and a color palette that evokes Argentinian fields and their nature.

Looking ahead, Camelot’s aim is to add value to this product both in the local and in the global market, giving it a modern style in order to satisfy the needs of a market that demands quality, design and identity.

A Cool coworking space

0

Have you ever heard about coworking spaces? Did you know that B.A has many coworking stations? Here we will show you a coworking place that was invented in Buenos Aires and now has been exported to the world: Urban Station.

The idea of the founders of Urban, the Argentinian Juan Pablo Russo, Marcelo Cora, Florencia Faivich and Claudio Bisurgi, was to create a different place where professionals could work and enjoy at the same time.

That was the beginning of Urban Station, which started with just one branch in Palermo Soho and already has four more in Argentina: in San Telmo, Palermo Hoolywood, Downtown Buenos Aires and Pilar.

The greatest thing about the place is that it is cozy and decorated with modern furniture and in a relaxed style. Everything there has been prepared so that people can work in the best possible way:  each person has its own desk, its lamp, its socket; they can drink coffee, tea, and mate, eat croissants, toasts, and even help themselves to some orange juice. And that’s not all: Urban Station also offers meeting rooms for those who need privacy or more space.

In November, the company will celebrate its fifth anniversary and it has already arrived in Chile, Colombia, and Mexico.  If you haven’t been there yet, you can buy a one-hour ticket and see if you like it.  If you decide to work there, you can then buy a monthly pass or 5-hour, 10-hour, 20-hour, or 40-hour packs.  Are you up for trying a different way of working?

ADELE, A TRUE STAR

0

The British singer Adele never ceases to amaze us.

In 2014 she lost 68 kilos and now she is back with the video clip of Hello, her new ballad and the first single of her new album, which has smashed all the records, beating even those of Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber.

The video reached 27, 7 million views on Vevo in just 24 hours, dethroning Taylor Swift who was the previous Queen of Vevo with her song Bad Blood, which till now had reached the largest number of visits within a day.

The new album, called 25, will be launched on November 20th, and it is expected that it will break all the prospects. What do you think about Adele’s success? I still haven’t had the opportunity to see her sing live, but that is one of the things on my bucket list!

A JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF BERLIN

I was eager to visit Berlin and Lollapalooza was the perfect excuse to make my dream come true and discover the many faces of the city, its history, and its cultural diversity. It was a great plan: a mix of tourism and music that I would definitely relive.

I must admit that at the very beginning the capital of Germany didn’t dazzle me, quite the opposite, on my way from the airport to the hotel, it seemed like a gloomy city to me, and the rainy afternoon didn’t help to change my feeling. But the next day, when I could go through it a little bit more and I finally understood what it was all about, it charmed me.

Berlin is a pacesetting city. It is full of history and culture, and it is so cosmopolitan that it really is worth a visit. The blend of architectural styles, with modern squares like Alexander Platz and ancient landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate, make it a unique place and this gave Lollapalooza a different nature.

For the first time ever, Lolla took place in Europe and it was an unforgettable experience, carried out in and emblematic place, with a lineup that was long-awaited by the audience, and an organization “made in Germany”.

The venue chosen for the occasion was the famous abandoned airport: Tempelhof, which on October 31st, 2008, closed its doors because, since it is in the middle of the city, the landing strip could not be extended. The building is intact, as if airplanes were still landing there, and that created a surrealist confusion between reality and fantasy.

One of the DJs that I was willing to see was Kygo. When he appeared on stage, people began to run to see him. Although his acting is really quiet and he plays music as if he were talking on Skype with a friend, Kyrre could cheer us up with his show.

At the cuisine sector, a place decorated in such a way that you can feel a circensial atmosphere, I tried many Nordic delicacies, and typical German food, but what I liked the most was the Nutella crepes, one of my weaknesses.

The festival had a different character, because there were people from all over the world and many of them were dressed up with funny costumes, creating a playful environment where, at times, we all felt as if we were children.

I believe that this peculiar atmosphere was also a consequence of the mystique of a city that is full of contrasts. If you go there, going across it by bike is a great option, it is also advisable to go shopping at Mitte, the most hipster neighborhood of Europe, visit the Museum Island, and visit what was left of the Wall, where you can see the East Side Gallery and its famous murals, such as “The Kiss”, one of Berlin’s symbols after the fall of the Wall. Another mandatory visit is Checkpoint Charlie, the city’s bohemian neighborhood, and the former border between East and West Berlin. And in order to learn about Jews history, the Holocaust Memorial is an essential visit.

I invite you to enjoy one of the most modern cities in Europe and Lollapalooza, which made this trip a unique experience.

Enjoy it!
