If you like green tea and you are around Williamsburg, I advise you to visit MatchaBar: the place where everything is made of matcha, from teas to pastries.

Founded in September 2014 by brothers Max and Graham Fortgang, who then opened another bar in Chelsea, the place is perfect to take a break and relax a little bit from the city.

The spot is New York’s first matcha specialized bar, and it is not only a tea house but also a place that embraces a philosophy about this millenary plant rich in antioxidants and historically used to enhance one’s focus, energy, and alertness.

Besides, the matcha they offer is sourced directly from an independent family farm in Nishio, Japan. The entire MatchaBar founding team makes a pilgrimage to the farm every May for the spring harvest, so the product you find there is really unique!

One of the suggestions from MatchaBar is the Cinnamon Maple Matcha with Matcha donuts, which are delicious: the mix of sugar-free tea and donuts is perfect. But my favorite is the Matcha Latte, because, although I always prefer just tea, at MatchaBar, milk tea is really yummy and it is worth tasting.

If you go there, you can also enjoy the cold matcha. The place offers iced Matcha tea bottles of many flavors that are ideal to have inside your bag.
