If you travel to London and you like music, you can’t miss visiting Jimi Hendrix’s room, a recreation of the room where the rock star lived between 1968 and 1969, at 23rd Brook Street.
The place moves not only because you can feel the energy of knowing that Hendrix rehearsed and played songs that now are known by everybody, but also because there are objects that belong to the musician, such as his telephones, his ashtray, and even the acoustic guitar Epihpone with which he created his own version of Bob Dylan’s song “All Along the Watchtower”.
The flat-museum opened its doors last year, but is restoration started a year before and it Kathy Etchingham, Hendrix ex girlfriend, helped as a consultant and gave all the details so that the place was a perfect reminiscence of what it had been in the 60s.
The colorful sitting room is without any doubt the central part of the room, not only because it has, for instance, the blankets that Hendrix used to hang on the walls, but also because it has the mirror where he used to stand in front of to comb his hair, and a recreation of his furniture: lamps, tables, couch, and rugs.
Something more?
Hendrix’s room is next to the apartment where German musician George Frideric Handel lived for 36 years, since 1723 till he died. A real artist’s neighborhood!
