Do not get dizzy with Lolla ‘s grid! In Le Banana we recommend 5 bands and artists that are in the dates of the new edition of the most important festival of the country.

The Weeknd

Abel Tesfaye’s third album, Starboy, took the 27-year-old Canadian to world stardom. Although her previous hit “Can’t feel my face” from his second studio album, Beauty Behind The Madness, – turned him into a massive idol and chart top – and Rolling Stone rated it as best 2015 song-, its strategic alliance with French dúo Daft Punk took The Weeknd to another level. The tracks “Starboy” and “I feel it coming” open and closes his third album which  sounds very inspired in Michael Jackson´s music.

The XX

Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith met at Elliot School, in Southwest London, England. This place is famous for having given bands like Hot Chip or Burial. The former indie pop quartet – since Baria Qureshi´s departure- has a melancholic and adolescent sound, mixed with hints of The Cure, David Bowie and a strong electronic base. After being in Argentina in 2013, the trio will return this year to present at Lollapalooza their new studio album, I see you.

The Strokes

Julian Casablancas met Nikolai Fraiture and Albert Hammond Jr. sincehey were at school. When they met again, years later in New York, Hammond offered Casablancas to join his band, along with guitarist Nick Valensi and drummer Fabio Moretti. The band known as  “rock saviors”, in 20101, when music quickly tended towards pop, debuted in Buenos Aires. On Saturday, at 22, the most hip and stable american garage rock band  will return to Argentine ground to close the fourth edition of the festival.

The Chainsmokers

Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall are one of the djs duo and producers from New York most recognized nowadays In 2012 they got together and gained international recognition, two years later, with their teen hit “Selfie”. Their song “Roses” became their first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 when they reached the 6°position, owing high rates of streaming and  albums sales. Last year, Halsey – who already came to Argentina last Lollapalooza – made a collab with Grammy Award winning duo for Best Dance collaboration, in its biggest hit to date with “Closer”.

The 1975

The alternative rock band of Manchester formed in secondary school by Matthew Healy (voice, guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums, choirs) and Ross MacDonald (bass) already published four EPs and two studio albums. Their first album was titled as the name of the band, in 2013, and, the second one, I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It (2016). In 2013, they performed opening stages for huge bands such as Muse and The Rolling Stones. Their musical influences includes many genres such as electropop, electronica, pop rock and R&B and artists like Talking Heads, Prince, My Bloody Valentine, Michael Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, D’Angelo, and Sigur Rós. They comes this year to perform at Lolla, on Friday afternoon.
