Fashion Weeks have always have a strict calendar. They come one after the other twice a year. But trends and innovation appear more and more in the new calendars imposed by Pre Fall or Resort catwalks that show maisons ‘craftworks, such as Chanel Métiers D´Art. Today in Le Banana we’ll tell you what happened at the latest catwalks of French maisons Dior Homme and Chanel, and of Italian maison Versace.
Japan, Sporty and Tech for Dior
The front line was full of celebrities. At the catwalk, there stood a huge metal woman figure that reminded 80s science fiction films and there were hundreds of cherries, the typicaL fruit of Tokyo, the host city. That was the setting chosen by Kim Jones to launch his second collection for Dior Homme, after leaving Louis Vuitton Homme. There was a lot of fit tailoring, genderless items, techie and metal accessories, and many hints to extreme sports clothes.
Versace is 90s and Kimye
New York was the location chosen this year by Versace. Strange choice since the city recorded the lowest temperatures in years. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were the most important guests of the show in which Donatella Versace showed one more time her decision of going back to the brand’s baroque identity. This kind of Versace, the one of golden shirts, animal print and cut out dresses with golden pins is still alive. Leather, printed silks and gabardine were the brand’s favorite materials. Cut out in dresses and clips were shown in extra large sizes and all the outfits had a cool style that broke the brand’s typical formality with sneakers and belt pouches as the key items – as it has been seen in all trendy hype brands.

ICONIC FINALE, WITH AMBER
French like Egypt
As Versace, Karl Lagerfeld chose New York to launch “Chanel Métiers d’art”, the annual catwalk in which the French Maison shows its mastery of the art of shoe making, jewelry and goldsmithing. Pyramids, goddesses, and queens such as Isis, Osiris and Nefertiti were the brand’s inspiration: they chose black and white kohl, and the models wore huge shoulder ornaments, delicate hand cut flowers, feathers dyed in gold, and impressive earrings and necklaces. The setting was the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of he museums with the biggest Egyptian collection of the world. Style mixing such as printed denim jackets wore together with classic tweed or haute couture dresses was also seen; in that way, the brand showed a less formal style but at the same time kept Madame Cocó Chanel spirit.
Enjoy.
