Something we love about Buenos Aires is its cultural and literary history, which, in many cases, is imprinted on bars and coffee stores that gathered great writers and artists.
That’s why we visited the symbolic bar “La Poesía”, one of the city’s notable bars, which was opened in 1982 by the poet Rubén Derlis and was home to San Telmo artistic bohemian, with Pérez Esquivel, Miguel Briante, Isidoro Blaisten and Oscar Ferrigno as protagonists.
The corner of Bolívar and Chile closed up in 1988, but opened again in 2008, and keeps its mystic untouched, with antique objects such as a bronze keg and a XXth century piano, and a photo gallery with 120 portraits of Argentine literature masters.
But, apart from its history, “La Poesía” offers a large menu with many dishes, desserts, appetizers, sandwiches, and coffees. Our suggestion is the potatoes tortilla, a classic that is delicious. Though if you want something lighter, you can also try one of its salads: all of them are fabulous.
If you are in Buenos Aires, don’t miss this wonderful bar, a spot with a unique history and really good food that everyone should visit.
Enjoy it!
