The last month of the year is already here and Miami is ready for the art fair that since 2002 gathers renowned contemporary artists and the best international galleries. The event starts today and goes through Sunday 9th and it includes more than twenty fairs, panels, conferences and exhibitions all along the city.
The cornerstone will be of course Art Basel Miami Beach that will take place from this Thursday through December 9th Miami Beach Convention Center (1900 Convention Center Drive). Curated by Philipp Kaiser and Mari Spirito, this year the event will include paintings, sculptures, installations, photographies, videos and digital art by over 4,000 artists.
But apart from Art Basel, Miami Art Week will offer other fairs and installations that will be spreaded all along the city, not only in Miami Beach. So there will be art everywhere and for people from all walks of life!
One of the must-see of the week is the Faena Festival, This is not America which will take place from December 3 to 9 at Faena Beach, Faena Hotel, Faena Versailles and Faena Forum (in Miami Beach). “We have always wanted to create a cultural epicenter from throughout the Americas and around the world and with this festival our intention is to create a cultural movement without borders”, stated Alan Faena, President of the Group.
The festival, curated by Zoe Lukov, features installations and performances by Derrick Adamas, Cecilia Bengolea, Luna Paiva, Tavares Strachan, among others. The main concept underlying all the artworks will be the different narratives associated with America; melting pot of cultures and ideas.
