The American photographer David Lachapelle is presenting for the first time a retrospective in Argentina and we were there to show you his pop, surrealistic, kitsch and edgy art.

The place chosen for the exhibition couldn’t be better: the Usina del Arte, located in the middle of La Boca neighborhood with an industrial stamp and a neo renaissance style is the perfect setting for the 80 artworks of the mythical artist.

The rooms of the Usina go through three decades of his work with a selection of his portraits of celebrities and his more experimental contemporary series. The huge photographs of loud colors and plenty of details amaze the spectator and transmute him to a parallel world.

David Bowie, Drew Barrymore, Cameron Díaz, Naomi Campbell, Whitney Houston, Courtney Love, Michael Jackson and Britney Spears are just some of the bodies that were perfectly photographed by Lachapelle, who doesn’t not limit himself to a typical portrait and places celebrities in thousands of different universes.

Besides, the series “Earth Laughs in Flowers”, “LandScape” and “Still Life” go even further and pose a sarcastic criticism of mercantilism, consumerism, and junk food among other elements of capitalism.

“Photographs 1984 – 2013” is, undoubtedly, one of the best exhibitions that has arrived to the country this year. “What I ask you is just to have an open mind and an open heart”, says Lachapelle in his presentation of the retrospective; nothing else is needed, there is time till December 30th, do not miss the chance!

Where? Usina del Arte, Agustín Caffarena 1 and Av. Pedro de Mendoza.

When? From Tuesdays to Thursdays from 14 to 19 and from Fridays to Sundays from 12 to 21, until December 30th.
