Lollapalooza is a fantastic art event in which there are all kinds of creative acts apart from music that is the heart that holds everything together.
This year, fine contemporary, pop and conceptual art was at the center of the festival and opened up Lolla’s Doors to other senses and feelings, with artworks that made people think and knocked down logical limits, taking the aesthetic joy to another level.
The crown jewel of the night was Flash Trash, a light art performance created by Garbach, an art company that had also been in Lollapalooza’s 2016 edition.
While dancing to the rhythm of Duran Duran, people were surprised to see a group of thirty actors and actresses that stepped into the field and started to interact with them in which was an art expression focused on waste as a way of protesting against a community that rejects those that are different.
Performers, dressed in monochrome light costumes done with recycled elements such as CDs, wires and electronic devices, spoke through their movements, communicating feelings and reflecting about lights, shadows, inclusion and exclusion.
Installations were also a central part of the festival. Hello Wood art, that had made realistic wood sculptures such as birds and bulls, but also conceptual pieces such as scaffolds, layers of beams, or rafters that seemed to be chapels, added creativity and innovation to the event.
“Your time is now”, Luis Alberto Spinetta’s statement was in the middle of the field glowing in neon lights. Besides, the sign “Love is All” and Coco, a huge plastic hippo – Lolla’s pet-, were also among the artistic attractions of the festival and the meeting point of thousands of friends.
And that was not all, Kidzapalooza also had place for art: its portico – a colorful rocket- was thought and created by a group of students of Graphic Design from UADE University.
Last but not least, as every year, there were a lot of pop and street art posters all around the field, huge murals which added color to the place, and perfect and thoroughly designed patterns on each of the walls of the stages.
Enjoy!
