We visited a classic of Manhattan: The Odeon, a restaurant that opened its doors in 1980 and was one of the first in arriving to Tribeca neighborhood.
Created by Lynn Wagenknecht and Keith McNally, who are also the founders of Balthazar and Pastis, The Odeon used to be the place chosen by Basquiat, Warhol, De Niro and Belushi. It was also one of the favorites of Elizabeth Taylor, Tina Turner and Gordon Elliott. And that is what makes the restaurant so special: in the 80s, it was the clubhouse where the men and women who would determine the direction of the United States culture for at least the next 10 years came to network.
Everything is delicious and it is decorated in a retro style and perfectly illuminated.
Our suggestions as starters are the French Onion Soup Gratinée, perfect for cold days, the Baby Kale Salad, and the Lemon Charred Octopus. As main course, the Roasted All Natural Sullivan Country Farms Half Chicken is an excellent option, and it is even better if you try it with French fries: they are great. The dessert menu is varied, but the cheesecake is a feast.
